Driver Job Description
Drivers are the face of Cassano’s at the customer’s front door. The food can be perfect — but if the delivery experience is poor, that is what the customer remembers. This topic covers what your role requires beyond what is expected of all Crew Members.
Before You Deliver
- You must be in full Cassano’s uniform, including hat, before leaving the store
- Every order must be verified — bag checked against the receipt before it goes out the door
- Drinks, sauces, and extras must be bagged securely
- Know the address before you leave; do not navigate and drive at the same time
On the Road
- Obey all traffic laws at all times — no exceptions for being in a hurry
- No phone use while driving (hands-free permitted for navigation only)
- Do not rush to the point of unsafe driving; a fast delivery means nothing if you do not arrive
- If you are in a minor accident: pull over safely, call the manager immediately, do not admit fault
At the Door
- Greet the customer by name if possible (“Here’s your Cassano’s order for [name]”)
- Smile and make it quick — most customers do not want to chat, they want their food
- Confirm the order is correct before handing it over
- Handle cash and tips correctly — see manager for current tip procedure
Insurance Requirement
You must carry personal auto insurance on any vehicle you use for deliveries. Ohio state minimum liability limits apply. Cassano’s is not liable for accidents involving your personal vehicle — your personal policy is your protection.
Proof of insurance must be on file before you are dispatched for your first delivery.
If You Are in an Accident
- Pull over safely and check for injuries
- Call 911 if anyone is hurt
- Call your manager immediately — before you move the vehicle if possible
- Exchange information with the other driver (name, insurance, license plate)
- Take photos of both vehicles and the scene
- Do not admit fault — to the other driver, bystanders, or anyone at the scene
- Complete an incident report with your manager before you leave for the day
Vehicle & Driving Record
Cassano’s reserves the right to check your driving record. A pattern of traffic violations or a serious offense may disqualify you from the driver role. Keep your record clean.
Drivers are also Crew Members. On non-delivery tasks — phones, food prep, cleaning — all Crew Member expectations from L03 apply.
